Common marmosets live in stable extended family units, where only a few members are allowed to breed. A group of marmosets can contain up to 15 members. Within family groups, the dominant are usually the procreating members. Dominance is reflected through different behavioral patterns, positions and vocalizations, while subordinate members more often draw on their superiors.
