World Animal Day

In 1931, in Florence, a congress of ecologists proclaimed October 4th as World Animal Day. This date is also the feast day of Saint Francis – the patron saint of animals. On this day, people speak about the rights of animals, who are equal inhabitants of the Earth, with the same right to food, water, and shelter. Animals feel pain, suffering, fear, but also joy.

All species are directly or indirectly connected, so the endangerment of one species affects the survival of others. On the occasion of World Animal Day, a workshop on protected animal species of Serbia was organized for younger elementary school students.

Around 150 children from three elementary schools sent postcards with greetings.
