The Majestic ZOOs project is aimed at developing and promoting family-oriented tourism in the cross-border region between Croatia and Serbia, focusing on public tourist spaces such as zoos. Supported by the Programme Interreg IPA CBC Croatia Serbia 2021-2027, this project strives to transform zoos into inclusive, value-added tourism destinations designed for families, children, children with special needs, zoo visitors, and nature enthusiasts. By investing in small-scale infrastructure, including petting zoos, accessible playgrounds, and outdoor educational spaces, the zoos of Osijek and Palić will offer new attractions that bring families closer to nature.
The project also emphasizes sustainability by incorporating green infrastructure and highlighting the region’s cultural and natural heritage, such as Pannonian architecture and native species. Through innovative solutions, Majestic ZOOs seek to create a peaceful, educational environment where visitors can interact with animals, learn about biodiversity,
and enjoy time outdoors.
The promotion of the project will be led by the tourism organizations of Osijek and Subotica, making it appealing to a wide range of target groups, including kindergartens, schools, teachers, families with children, youth, tourism workers, travel agencies, educators, zoologists, and environmental organizations. Promotional activities will include conferences, exhibitions panels, workshops, vivid photography, promotianl videos, manuals, and journalists' trips to ensure widespread interest and visibility for the project.
