Golden agoutis live in different types of forests, weigh from 3 to 6 kilograms, are 48-64 cm long, with characteristic red-orange fur on the lower part of the body. They feed on seeds, pulp, leaves, roots and fruits, and sometimes insect larvae.
On November 4, 2022, for the first time in Palić Zoo, a female golden agouti was born. Because of the shiny coat, which shines in the Sun, she got the name Chila (Csillag – star).
