Education: The Vital Role Zoos Play.
Education Tradition
The Palic Zoo is one of the pioneers of zoopedagogy in Serbia, having started developing its education program in its current form as early as the 1980s. The culture and education of school children and visitors to the zoo is one of the four main activities of the Palic Zoo.
Today we are recognizable as one of the zoos in the region that has one of the best organized and developed education programs for all ages, not only for elementary school students, who we host over 2000 per month, but also for high school students who, in addition to classical lectures, have high school internships to gain valuable knowledge and experience.
Mentor program
The Zoopedagogical Program offers educational activities including creating informative displays, writing informative texts, engaging visitors, working with media, collaborating with professional institutions, faculties, associations, and foundations.
Based on the Zoological Garden Education Program, the program includes lectures, presentations, and practical and art workshops on zoology, botany, general biology, ecology, and elective subject Nature’s Guardians.
The program involves around twenty elementary schools and kindergartens from Subotica and surrounding areas up to 30 km from the Zoo.
Equipment
The garden has a classroom equipped with modern facilities: computer, projector, sound system, and internet.
Transportation
In cooperation with the carrier, children are brought by bus from school to the kindergarten and back, according to a pre-arranged schedule.
Duration
Working with lower grade school children continues throughout the entire school year.
